The type of events you will find here are:

Dance Competitions

Dance competitions, as the name implies, involve dance couples competing against each other for placements, prizes, or scholarships.  The competing couples are usually pro/am or amateur, but some competitions my feature a professional division as well.  The benefit of competition is that it raises the bar, so-to-speak, and give the student the incentive to become a better dancer.

Mini Matches

Similar to dance competitions, but usually small friendly competitions, mainly just for fun.

Showcases

A showcase is an event where couples or groups perform choreographed show dance routines in front of an live audience.  The couples can be amateurs, professions, or pro/am.  The routines are approximately two and a half minutes long and give the student the opportunity to learn and dance fancier material than is common in social dancing.

Dance Workshops

Dance workshops are special dance events where students get to take several dance classes back-to-back.  Sometimes these events last all day or even all weekend.  Dance workshops often have several dance teachers teaching a wide variety of different dances and offering beginner, intermediate, and  advanced dance classes.

Dance Cruises

Dance cruises are vacations you get to take with your dance instructor!  These are usually a week long and feature dance classes during the day and social dancing every night.  This is in addition to all the normal amenities of a pleasure cruise:   Swimming pools, hot tubs, variety of restaurants, many cocktail lounges & dance floors, a wide variety of entertainment and shows, exotic ports, and shore excursions.  The shore excursions can be as varied and unique as each port, but they all have shopping galore.  Most tropical destinations include snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing and beach excursions.
